his night behind the bar at fifty milsDavid is one of those personalities who have not had nationality for a while, regardless of what his passport states, he can be either in Asia or South America; he is a true world citizen. This is what his bartender and expert consultant in bars profession has required from him, his Spanish nationality can only be guessed because his accent reveals it, but he knows how to move within and adapt to each country he visits. Recently, David Ríos, acknowledged by many as one of the best mixologists in the planet, made a stop in Mexico City to be part of the jury during the World Class qualifying round, contest organized by DIAGEO, which intends to find the world’s best bartender every year. During his visit, in addition to assessing cocktails during the semi-finals of this competition, he offered pieces of advice and guidance to the new promises in cocktail making. Let us recall that David Ríos won this contest’s world final in 2013; since then his career has been on the rise. Taking advantage of his stay in Mexico City, we invited David Ríos to become part of the Fifty Mils team, even if it was for one night. Given his relationship with some of the bartenders, he willingly accepted. During his guest bartending, fun and creativity abounded in the famous marble bar. David and the rest of the Fifty Mils team, led by Mica Rousseau, catered the guests who came to taste some of David’s creations; he is becoming little by little, a living legend.
David said goodbye to applause from people sitting at the bar and hugs from the staff; he promised to come back and have fun again. We had fun and learned form him. Don’t miss visiting Fifty Mils, we always welcome international guests who top the experience and leave their recipes behind. If you wish to try a recipe inspired by David Ríos, order it at the bar and don’t miss out on this experience. Soon we will have another international bartender with us; we invite you to enjoy these unique experiences. Find out more through our Instagram account.

Mexico is definitely a country that I would recommend touring to. I know that most people think that it is a lawless country, and to some degree, there is some truth to that. Of course it is a barbaric country, but that is not all that there is to it. Mexico is a country that is never going to be bad. I want people to understand that a country is not always what it is perceived to be, that is the truth.
