Mexico's best bartender Fátima León, bartender at Fifty Mils did it again. She reached the World Class finals for second consecutive year, but this time she did not settle for being one of the five finalists in the competition… In this edition, she was crowned as undisputed champion and brought the trophy home. Not only does this triumph acknowledge her as Mexico’s Best Bartender 2017, but it also gives her the responsibility to represent the country at the global finals of the competition organized by DIAGEO, in which around 60 bartenders from different nationalities participate and who seek to become #1 and world champion. The finals will be held in August and for the first time, they will take place in Mexico. No Time Cocktail: The Winning Drink Fátima presented the jury her flagship cocktail called “No Time Cocktail”, made with Johnnie Walker Gold Label, black tea with bergamot, oleo-saccharum lime, yellow lime, European goldenrod, lactose-free milk, Angostura bitters, and mint bitters. “No Time Cocktail” is a drink that from the first sip will be as surprising and stimulating as comforting, perhaps for the tea or maybe the citrus elements, I don’t know. It invariably invites to take a second sip to calm the palate’s anxiety, which demands more after tasting it. This creation crowned her as Mexico’s Best Bartender 2017. The jury was integrated by Karen Walker, Paulo Figuereido, Tim Phillips, and Mica Rousseau, winner of World Class Mexico 2016 Representing Mexico This time, the World Class finals will take place in Mexico City for the first time. Fátima León, in addition to representing Mexico in the bar competition, will also be the host in some way, to the almost 60 finalist bartenders who wish to become world champion. *Fotografía por @horchatapop en Instagram We are proud at Fifty Mils that it is precisely Fátima who represents both the bar and Mexico. We love the fact that a woman is spokesperson of this new time our country is living, not only when speaking about the cocktail-making world, where it reaches the height of great countries from the world, but when talking about this Mexican proud moment, when we are filled with pride for what we are and what we do on a daily basis. When we acknowledge the quality in local products and we cheer first the achievements within our boundaries, before looking to adopt victories that aren’t ours. Fati will do it wonderfully, she will leave a little of our culture – so full of flavors, creativity, and colors – in each creation and in each cocktail, but especially, she will let the world know what we Mexican people are made of, because she is precisely the reflection of this moment, of this tireless quest we face every day for gender equity, for the respect of women who were born in this country. The fact that a woman has won this national competition, nice and legally, in a profession practically dominated by men, turns us into winners before our own eyes and also before the world’s. Meet Her at Fifty Mils
We don’t know where this story will end, but we are thrilled of the way things are happening. We could go on writing, but it is much more interesting when Fátima tells you what is coming herself, so we invite you to have a drink made by her, taste this winning cocktail, and enjoy the moment Mexico is experiencing. She is at Fifty Mils, within the Four Seasons Hotel, Mexico City, every day. Ask for Fátima León, Mexico’s winner, she will greet you with a smile and a nice cocktail. Cheers!

Bartending is one of the most prominent careers in today's society. Many people have turned their attention towards practicing and making a living out of bartending. Just as your blog has mentioned, Mexico is one of the many countries that have popularized bartending. I believe that many of the elites and high class people of the world hold glamorous parties. Parties often tend to be filled with alcohol and liquor, thus making the job of bartenders that which is truly challenging.
